Despatch Operative Job Purpose To ensure the accurate, safe, and timely picking, packing, loading, and despatch of finished products to customers. The Despatch Operative is responsible for maintaining stock accuracy, preparing documentation, and ensuring all despatch activities comply with company procedures, quality standards, and health and safety requirements. Key Responsibilities Despatch Operations Pick and prepare customer orders accurately in line with despatch schedules. Pack products securely to prevent damage during transportation. Load and unload vehicles safely using appropriate equipment. Verify quantities, product codes, and customer requirements before despatch. Ensure all despatch documentation is completed accurately and on time. Label goods correctly and prepare shipments for transport. Inventory Control Assist with stock checks and cycle counts. Report stock discrepancies, shortages, or damaged goods. Maintain accurate stock records using warehouse management systems or ERP systems. Ensure stock is stored correctly and rotated where applicable. Health, Safety & Quality Follow all health and safety procedures at all times. Wear and maintain required PPE. Operate forklift trucks and material handling equipment safely (where authorised). Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment. Comply with quality standards and customer-specific requirements. General Duties Assist goods-in activities when required. Support production and warehouse teams to meet business demands. Report equipment faults, shortages, or operational issues promptly. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives. Carry out any other reasonable duties as requested by management. Person Specification Essential Previous experience in a warehouse, logistics, or manufacturing environment. Good attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to follow instructions and work to deadlines. Basic numeracy and literacy skills. Good communication and teamwork skills. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Desirable Counterbalance or Reach Forklift Licence. Experience using ERP or warehouse management systems. Knowledge of shipping and export documentation.
