Electrical Chargehand

Rubicon Consulting is currently recruiting for a Electrical Chargehand on a 6 month contract based in Isle of Grain, Kent.

Role Summary

We are currently recruiting an experienced Electrical Chargehand to join a major HVDC Converter Station project based in the Isle of Grain, Kent.

This is an excellent opportunity for an electrically experienced Chargehand with a strong background in the Power Transmission & Distribution industry, particularly those with previous experience working on HV substations and GIS installations.

Key Responsibilities:

* Supervising and coordinating electrical installation teams on site.

* Leading electrical operatives and ensuring daily activities are completed safely and efficiently.

* Overseeing electrical installation works within a high-voltage converter station environment.

* Experience with GIS (Gas Insulated Switchgear) installation works.

* Reading and interpreting electrical drawings, specifications and installation instructions.

* Ensuring all works are carried out in accordance with project specifications and RAMS.

* Coordinating with mechanical teams, site supervisors and project management.

* Monitoring progress and reporting any issues or delays.

* Conducting toolbox talks and ensuring safe working practices are followed.

* Maintaining high standards of quality, workmanship and health & safety.

Requirements

Essential Requirements:

* Previous experience as an Electrical Chargehand within the Power T&D industry.

* Previous experience working on HV substations or converter station projects.

* GIS (Gas Insulated Switchgear) experience – essential.

* Valid CSCS or relevant ECS card.

* SSSTS qualification.

* Strong understanding of electrical installation works within HV environments.

* Previous experience supervising and coordinating electrical teams.

* Good understanding of RAMS, health & safety and site procedures.

Additional Qualifications (Desirable):

* SMSTS.

* First Aid at Work.

* IPAF.

* PASMA.

* Experience with HV switchgear, cabling, glanding and terminating.

* Experience working on HVDC converter station projects.
