Your new company An award-winning, Legal 500-recognised law firm with a strong reputation across the North is seeking an Industrial Disease Solicitor or Associate to join its expanding defendant insurance team in Manchester. The firm is recognised for its collaborative culture, commitment to professional development, and expertise in delivering high-quality legal services to a broad insurance client base. Your new role This is an excellent opportunity for a Solicitor or Associate with defendant insurance experience to join a well-established industrial disease practice. You will manage a varied caseload of litigated and pre-litigated industrial disease claims on behalf of insurer and corporate clients. Your caseload will include: Noise Induced Hearing Loss (NIHL) claims Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome (HAVS) claims Asbestos-related disease claims, including mesothelioma Occupational asthma claims Dermatitis claims Work-related stress claims You will be responsible for handling matters from inception through to resolution, providing strategic legal advice to clients, drafting legal documentation, attending court and tribunal hearings, and conducting advocacy where appropriate. You will also build and maintain strong client relationships and support wider business development initiatives. What you'll need to succeed Qualified Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive (CILEX) Between 1-5 years' PQE Experience handling defendant industrial disease claims Proven ability to manage your own caseload and work to deadlines Experience attending court and tribunal hearings, with advocacy experience preferred Strong client relationship and communication skills Commercial awareness and a proactive approach to case management Commitment to delivering excellent client service Previous involvement in business development activities would be advantageous but is not essential.
