Staff C++ Engineer Belfast (Hybrid) My client is a serious engineering business working close to the metal - this is genuine low-level systems work for someone who enjoys understanding what's happening beneath the abstractions. This is a Staff-level role at the top of the engineering team, combining deep technical contribution with the influence to shape direction. This is a hands-on role for someone who wants to own meaningful parts of a complex system, make architectural calls and raise the bar for the engineers around them. What you'll be doing Designing and building high-performance, low-level systems in modern C++ Owning architecture and technical direction across complex, performance-critical components Working close to the hardware - memory management, concurrency, optimisation and systems-level problem solving Setting engineering standards and best practices across the team Mentoring and elevating the engineers around you Contributing to technical strategy at a senior level What they're looking for Deep, production-grade C++ expertise, with a strong grasp of modern C++ standards Solid experience with low-level and systems-level engineering - memory, concurrency, performance optimisation A track record of owning complex technical work end to end Strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms and computer systems Experience operating at a senior or staff level, with the ability to lead through influence Someone who genuinely enjoys working close to the metal This is a role for someone who wants to do serious, technically demanding low-level engineering and have real ownership over how it's built.
