Programme Test Lead

Overview

Programme Test Lead role at Arch Insurance (UK) Limited. The primary responsibility is to coordinate and provide oversight over the testing process for large and medium initiatives, ensuring the delivery of high-quality outputs aligned with business needs. The ideal candidate will have significant experience running large testing implementations, coordinating testing processes across major programmes, and a strong background in software testing, test automation, team leadership, and a passion for quality and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Provide assurance over the end-to-end testing process, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices.
• Develop and implement test strategies, plans, and processes for projects.
• Ensure test coverage and traceability.
• Collaborate with developers, IT Quality Assurance Engineers, product managers, Domain owners and other stakeholders to define quality goals and success/sign-off criteria.
• Oversee the creation and execution of test cases, scripts, and scenarios.
• Iteratively coordinate UAT with the business, as well as end-to-end testing at the conclusion of a project.
• Work closely with engineering to ensure appropriate consideration and testing for OAT, NFT and DR testing.
• Compile test evidence and test results across all areas.
• Report on test progress, metrics, and quality status to stakeholders.
• Coordinate defect management process and ensure defect priority and impact is understood and appropriately prioritized.
• Work with implementation partners to ensure they adhere to and deliver on testing commitments and strategy.
• Facilitate sign-off from business and other stakeholders as needed.
• Drive continuous improvement in testing practices.

Required Experience / Qualifications

• Significant experience running large testing implementations and coordinating testing processes across major programmes.
• Significant experience in software testing, including leadership experience.
• Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies is essential.
• Strong knowledge of QA methodologies, tools, and processes.
• Experience with test management tools (e.g., JIRA).
• Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field.

Preferred Qualifications

• ISTQB or equivalent certification.
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
• Experience in performance and security testing.
• Familiarity with automation tools such as Selenium, JUnit, TestNG – beneficial but not essential.
