Position Summary

Highly Specialist Pharmacist – Medical Admissions

30 hours per week / 0.8 wte. Fixed term/Secondment for 12 months to cover maternity leave.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced pharmacist to join the Pharmacy Team to provide specialist support to the Medical Admissions areas. This Highly Specialist Pharmacist will work with the Medical Admissions team and act as an expert and advisor to colleagues in Medical Admissions and the wider trust.

Responsibilities

  • Audit, monitor and develop medicines management and risk management within the Trust.
  • Provide training and supervision to other departmental staff.
  • Act as a deputy to the Clinical Services Lead Pharmacist / Deputy Chief Pharmacist in professional activities associated with the pharmacy service with regard to directorate/specialty activity and provide professional leadership to the Trust on an ad‑hoc basis during absence of Chief Pharmacist, Deputy Chief Pharmacist and Clinical Services Lead Pharmacist from the hospital site.
  • Be responsible and accountable for the quality of the service provided to the Acute Medical Admissions wards AMU1, AMU2, AAU1, AAU2 and works closely with ED pharmacist lead.
  • Act as a role model for other clinical pharmacists and provide in‑house clinical training, supervision and first‑level management support for all pharmacists relative to their needs in the specialist practice areas.
  • Develop, implement and monitor standards for the clinical pharmacy service in conjunction with other Senior Clinical Pharmacists.
  • Implement practice research within the pharmacy department.
