Tetra Tech is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Apprentice Civil Engineer to join our Renewable Energy Infrastructure team in Edinburgh.

Purpose & Scope of the Role

As an Apprentice Civil Engineer you will support the delivery of civil engineering and infrastructure designs for renewable energy developments across the UK. Working alongside experienced engineers, you will contribute to project work from early‑stage concept development through to detailed design and construction support, gaining broad experience across the full project lifecycle.

Your Impact in this Position

  • Support the design and delivery of infrastructure solutions that enable major renewable energy projects to move from concept to construction.
  • Develop engineering analysis, design development, technical reporting and project coordination skills.
  • Produce engineering drawings, calculations and technical documentation.
  • Participate in client meetings and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Balance technical, environmental, safety and constructability considerations.

Learning & Development

This apprenticeship is designed to provide a strong foundation for a long‑term career in Civil Engineering. Alongside your academic studies you will gain practical experience using industry‑leading software and engineering processes while working on real projects. The successful candidate will work four days a week with Tetra Tech and attend university one day a week during the academic year.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • Passionate about engineering and eager to learn.
  • Comfortable working independently and collaboratively.
  • Strong organisational and proactive problem‑solving skills.
  • Interest in infrastructure design, engineering technology and sustainable development.
  • Strong communication skills, attention to detail and desire for continuous learning.
  • Eligible for the Civil Engineering Graduate Apprenticeship at Heriot‑Watt University (or equivalent approved provider) and meet the funding eligibility criteria, including living and working in Scotland and right to work in the UK.
