About the role
*The Role*
As our Cook, you will be responsible for preparing and serving nutritious, home-cooked meals that cater to a range of dietary needs and preferences. You'll be a vital part of our care team, ensuring residents receive meals that are not only tasty and appealing but also support their health and well-being.
*Key Responsibilities*
* Prepare and cook meals according to a set menu or residents’ needs * Work with the team to create varied, nutritious menus with seasonal ingredients * Ensure all meals are presented to a high standard * Maintain food hygiene and safety standards in accordance with current regulations (e.g. HACCP, Food Safety Act) * Manage stock levels and place orders as needed * Cater for special dietary requirements (e.g. modified meals, diabetic-friendly, allergen-aware etc.) * Keep the kitchen clean, organised, and compliant with health and safety standards * Work collaboratively with care and support staff to ensure residents’ preferences are met
*What We’re Looking For*
* Previous experience as a Cook or Chef, ideally in a care or healthcare setting * Understanding of dietary needs of older people and/or those with medical conditions * Knowledge of food safety standards and regulations * Relevant Food Hygiene qualifications (Level 2 or higher preferred) * Compassionate, patient, and respectful attitude * Ability to work independently and manage time effectively * Reliable and flexible, including availability for weekend or holiday shifts * The candidate needs to be trained to IDDSI. We can offer support with this.
