About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Plant/Seed Production Technician to join a busy Technical Support Team based in Bracknell. This role is responsible for the day-to-day production and maintenance of plant and seed materials under glasshouse conditions, supporting experimental screening programmes to a high standard. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with an interest in plant biology and horticulture to develop technical skills in a regulated, science-led environment.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out day-to-day production and maintenance of plant/seed materials to a standard that meets customer requirements, promptly highlighting any problems or issues.
Work both independently and collaboratively within a team to carry out experimental work using established and novel screening methods.
Maintain plants under glasshouse conditions for the full duration of each test.
Liaise closely with other members of the Technical Support Team to ensure consistently high levels of customer support and satisfaction.
Develop technical knowledge and skills through hands-on experience across a wide range of production techniques.
Identify opportunities for efficiency improvements and contribute to problem-solving in consultation with team members and supervisors.
Accurately maintain records and keep databases up to date.
Bring a continuous improvement mindset, actively contributing ideas to enhance screening methods and processes.
Contribute to strong safety performance by maintaining a clean and safe personal working environment, and by complying with all safety procedures and HSE regulations.
Ensure personal compliance with DEFRA, CBD, QMS, and HSE regulations relating to the containment and use of genetically modified organisms and licensed plant material in glasshouses, growth rooms, and laboratories.
Take accountability for work carried out with precision, accuracy, and efficiency.
Demonstrate a strong work ethic and consistency in role performance.
May take on responsibility for elements of test planning.Skills & Experience Required
General knowledge of plant biology; knowledge of seed production and horticultural techniques would be advantageous.
Competent user of Microsoft Office programs.
Strong analytical, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
Detail-oriented with excellent communication skills.
Agile learner, self-starter, and effective team player.
Strong self-motivation, self-management, and time management skills.
