Family Solicitor (Permanent)

£45,000 – £60,000 DOE | Full-time or Part-time | Permanent

A well-regarded, multi-office South Devon law firm is looking to recruit an experienced Family Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive to develop and grow its family law offering from its Plymouth office.

This is a particularly exciting opportunity for an ambitious and experienced family lawyer who would enjoy the autonomy of being the lead Family Lawyer in Plymouth, whilst remaining part of a supportive, established wider firm.

The firm is looking to expand its presence in the Plymouth market and is therefore keen to find someone with the drive and enthusiasm to build a caseload, develop local relationships and help grow the family practice over the longer term.

The Role

You will be the principal provider of family law services from the Plymouth office, managing your own caseload independently and taking responsibility for developing the firm's family offering locally.

Depending on your experience, your caseload is likely to encompass a broad range of privately funded family matters, potentially including:

• Divorce and separation
• Financial remedy and matrimonial finance
• Private children matters
• Cohabitation and separation agreements
• Pre- and post-nuptial agreements
• Other general family and relationship matters

Alongside fee-earning, there will be a strong business development element to the position. You will have the opportunity to build relationships with local professionals and referrers, develop your own profile in the Plymouth market and play a key role in growing the department.

About You

The firm is ideally looking for an experienced Family Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive with around 3+ years’ PQE, although candidates with significantly more experience should still apply.

You will need to be confident working autonomously and managing your own family caseload, as you will initially be the sole Family Lawyer based in the Plymouth office.

This would particularly suit someone who is:

• Enthusiastic about business development and generating new work
• Keen to establish and grow a family law presence locally
• Personable and able to build strong client and professional relationships
• Comfortable working independently whilst also collaborating with colleagues across the wider firm

Location: Plymouth – office based

PQE: Ideally 3+ years

Salary: Circa £45,000 – £60,000 depending on experience

Contract: Permanent
