A successful and highly inclusive primary school in Newham is looking to appoint a SEND Teaching Assistant for September 2026. This full-time, long-term position until July 2027 is ideal for a Psychology graduate or someone from a related academic background looking to gain hands-on experience supporting pupils with additional needs across a primary setting.
£444–£513 per week via PAYE (inclusive of holiday pay) | Term-time only
The school has developed a strong reputation for SEND provision, with specialist intervention staff, structured pastoral systems and close partnerships with external professionals including speech and language therapists and educational psychologists. Pupils with Autism, ADHD, SEMH needs and communication difficulties are supported through carefully planned interventions, structured classroom routines and personalised learning strategies. Leaders place significant emphasis on inclusion, ensuring pupils receive consistent support both academically and emotionally throughout the school day.
The role includes:
• Providing 1:1 support for pupils with Autism and ADHD
• Supporting children with SEMH and speech and language needs
• Delivering small-group interventions focused on communication and emotional regulation
• Assisting pupils within class to improve engagement, confidence and independence
• Supporting teachers with behaviour management and differentiated learning activities
