Recycling Operative

- Driving (Public Sector) Our public sector client is seeking an experienced and motivated Recycling Operative (Driving) to join their Operations team.
This is an excellent opportunity to work within a well-structured organisation delivering essential frontline services to the community.
This will be an initial 6 month contract with great likelihood of extension.
The Role Working within the Household Recycling Service (Waste Management Department) the postholder will be required to provide, in a safe and effective manner, a quality and effective recycling service at the Household Recycling Centres, in all weather conditions.
The postholder is the Client's interface with the public and is required to interact with the public in a courteous and appropriate manner, and to ensure that environmental standards are met and maintained in accordance with site operational conditions and procedures.
Responsible for the operation of the Household Recycling Centre and the promotion of recycling to all site users Cash handling in accordance with procedures, for all cash received at Household Recycling Centre sites, to include issue of receipts and deposit of cash to safe.
Collection and recording of all prepaid vouchers presented by commercial customers using the site.
Control traffic entering and leaving the site, issue of directions for tipping and assistance to the public with tipping as required.
Responsible for the upkeep and cleansing of the site and its surrounds to include the site office and facilities.
Eg spreading salt Responsible for the general maintenance of the approach road and verge in the immediate vicinity of the site, which is under Client control.
Eg spreading salt Completion of all associated records and paperwork as required, including site records and issue of Controlled Waste transfer notes.
Ensure the Household Recycling Centre site is opened each morning and locked each evening as appropriate, ensuring that the alarm system is activated accordingly.
Essential criteria include: Valid Category C1 licence.
Full CPC / Driver Qualification Card.
Minimum 1 years' experience operating with a Category C1 licence.
Working knowledge of health & safety procedures (manual handling, reversing assistants).
Ability to work with minimal supervision, demonstrating initiative and reliability.
Desirable: Current valid driving licence minimum C1+ E Previous experience in the waste management sector, particularly refuse collection and recycling.
Experience operating mechanical sweepers.
