About the role

Oxford City Council has four key priorities, and one is to deliver more affordable housing.  This ambition recognises the programme of work required to address Oxford’s housing crisis, where existing homes are unaffordable for many, and demand for good quality homes outstrips what is available.  Oxford is regularly cited as the least affordable city in the UK, so this challenge is significant and something we are committed to changing but we cannot do it alone, so are looking for someone that is able to support the delivery of our programme through engaging partnerships. The Council has already established a housing company and developed a housing supply programme which is starting to deliver more affordable homes.  It seeks to take this further by ensuring outcomes are achieved; accelerating delivery; and identifying further opportunities to grow and sustain this housing supply programme. This role seeks to support the effective management of this affordable housing supply programme, with a focus on the delivery of key initiatives and outcomes, across the Council, the housing company, and through strong relationships with strategic partners and stakeholders.  Driving innovation will be essential in order to meet the scale of the challenge in Oxford. This role includes a focus on enabling work and effective partnership working, reflecting that a range of housing providers are engaged in the delivery of affordable housing. The main function is to be a source of expertise in all matters relating to affordable housing and contribute this expertise to ensure delivery of development and regeneration projects to meet Oxford’s housing needs. For an informal discussion about the post please contactDave Scholes, Affordable Housing Supply Corporate Lead on DScholes@oxford.gov.ukNote: All vacancies close at 23:59 on the stated closing date. Basis: Full TimePackage: 29 days holiday, LGPS, subsidised leisure membership, flex scheme (where appropriate), employee benefits scheme, post-probation pay increment.
