Highways Maintenance Operative (HGV Driver)

Do you hold a valid HGV Licence and want a career that keeps Scotland moving? We're looking for HGV Drivers / Highways Maintenance Operatives to join our Transport Infrastructure team in Dundee, helping to maintain and improve some of Scotland's most important roads and transport routes. As an HGV Driver / Highways Maintenance Operative, you'll support the safe operation and maintenance of trunk roads across the region. Working as part of a dedicated team, you'll undertake a variety of activities that help keep roads open, safe and accessible all year round. This is much more than a driving role. You'll be out on the network carrying out vital highway maintenance activities, operating specialist vehicles and plant, responding to incidents, and supporting winter operations to keep roads safe for the travelling public. An HGV Licence is essential for this position. 39 hours per week : Monday to Thursday: 8:00am to 4:30pm, Friday: 8:00am to 3:30pm You'll also participate in standby and emergency call-out arrangements, including winter maintenance operations and occasional night shifts. Key responsibilities include: Driving and operating HGVs and specialist highway maintenance vehicles Carriageway and footway repairs Kerbing and ironwork replacement Drainage maintenance and repair works Operating small plant and equipment Winter gritting and snow response activities Emergency incident response and network recovery General highway maintenance and environmental activities Completing vehicle inspections, records and work documentation Maintaining the highest standards of health, safety and environmental compliance What We're Looking For Essential: Valid HGV Licence Full UK Driving Licence Experience working in highways maintenance, roadworks, construction, civils, utilities or a similar operational environment Strong understanding of health and safety practices Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions A positive attitude and team-focused approach Desirable: Winter maintenance experience Street Works or related qualifications Experience operating plant and machinery Why Join Us?
