Education Mental Health Practitioner (Qualified or in Training) Location: Swindon Salary: £32,073 per annum Vacancy Type: Permanent Job Purpose: As an EMHP you will be joining a diverse team offering both clinical and non-clinical support to children, young people, and their families across Swindon. You will deliver evidence-based assessments and interventions for children and young people in education settings with mild to moderate mental health difficulties, under expert supervision and as part of a dynamic and evolving mental health support team. As an EMHP you will be joining a diverse team offering both clinical and non-clinical support to children, young people, and their families across Swindon. You will work in partnership with school/college mental health leads by developing a Whole School and College Approach to mental health within your allocated schools. Key Responsibilities: You will work in collaboration with other EMHP’s, CWP’s and mental health professionals, supervisors to deliver 1:1 intervention’s, groups, parent- led interventions, work- shops and staff training. To assess and deliver outcome focused, low intensity, evidence-based interventions in educational settings for children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties, working at all times in collaboration with and giving respect to the education function of the setting in which the post-holder is deployed. To help children and young people within these settings who present with “as needing more support” to rapidly access more specialist services by engaging with more senior staff in the signposting of referrals. Some of the essential criteria for the role: * Qualification from CYP Educational Mental Health Practitioner’s Course (EMHP), – Post Graduate Diploma/Graduate Dip Mental Health Practice in Education Settings or currently in Training * Professional Registration with recognised National Body (BABCP, BPS) * Experience of working with anxiety disorders. * Experience of working with affective (mood) disorders. * Experience of the delivery of specific therapeutic interventions to children, young people or their families (e.g. CBT, solution focused brief therapy). * Highly developed knowledge of child and adult safeguarding. * Ability to conduct group parenting programmes. * Ability to work within educational settings to increase mental health awareness within the staff group. * The ability to travel independently across the service footprint. * Work flexibly and adapt to suit service need. * Ability to personally manage a sensitive and potentially emotionally distressing caseload.
