About the role

Process Operator

Our client, based in Newton Aycliffe, is looking for Process Operators to join their team.

Hours of work would bea three shift system; 06.00 - 14.00, 14.00 - 22.00, 22.00 - 06.00.

Role and Responsibilities:
  • The Operators are responsible for carrying out day to day operations of a chemical manufacturing plant.
  • Ensure ISO 9000, 14001, 18001 standards are met
  • Basic analytical testing of product effluent and steam boiler water as per procedures.
  • Supplying representative samples of finished product to the quality control lab for final inspection.
  • Assist in discharging finished product to specified storage: tank, road tanker, IBC or drums.
  • Transport of finished package goods to specified location via FLT.
  • Labelling of intermediate and finished products
  • Reporting out of specification product to Team Leader
  • Running of Cooling belt operation including bagging of solid pellets / flake into FIBCs.
  • Running of chemical reactors.
  • Such other comparable duties as may be required.
  • Working with Hazardous Chemicals in a upper tier Comah site.
  • To ensure that the appropriate protective equipment is correctly used and maintained.
  • Participation in the control of any on-site emergencies or abnormal situations until relieved by Emergency
  • Services.
  • To maintain a clean and tidy workplace and to keep working areas, walkways and emergency exits free from
  • obstructions. To promptly clean up spillages and leaks to minimise environmental impact.
  • Reporting any incidents, accidents, near misses or occurrences of concern to Team Leader. To assist with
  • investigations into all such incidents whether they cause injury/damage or not and to take appropriate action
  • to prevent any recurrence.
  • Submitting reports of observations of unsafe acts or circumstances to the Observations reporting system
Qualifications and Education Requirements
  • Able to communicate effectively within the site organisation.
  • Possesses a working knowledge of the sites policies, practices, processes and procedures.
  • FLT driving and certification
  • Basic IT skills
