Role: Paralegal - Military Claims
Salary: £30,000-£35,000
Location: Castleford, West Yorkshire
Contract: Full time, permanent, hybrid

CRA Consulting is exclusively representing a specialist claimant law firm that is expanding its dedicated Military Claims team and is looking to appoint an experienced Fee Earner.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly regarded specialist practice working on claims for serving members of the Armed Forces, veterans and their families.
Military claims experience is welcomed but is not essential. The firm is also open to experienced claimant Personal Injury professionals who are looking to move into a more specialist area and develop their expertise with the support and training of an established team.
You will have responsibility for your own caseload, working on a varied range of military compensation, personal injury and occupational illness claims.

The Role

You will manage your own caseload of pre-litigated and litigated claims, taking responsibility for progressing matters effectively and achieving the best possible outcomes for your clients.
The caseload can include:

• Noise-Induced Hearing Loss (NIHL)
• Non-Freezing Cold Injury (NFCI)
• Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
• Asbestos-related disease
• Military personal injury claims
• Occupational illness claims

Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing your own pre-litigated and litigated caseload
• Assessing liability, causation and quantum
• Developing case strategies and progressing claims through the appropriate stages
• Drafting correspondence, witness statements, schedules of loss and court documentation
• Reviewing medical records, service records and expert evidence
• Working closely with clients, Counsel, medical experts, the Ministry of Defence and other third parties
• Negotiating settlements and working towards positive outcomes
• Managing key deadlines and ensuring files remain compliant
• Providing clear, professional and sensitive advice to clients throughout their claims
• Maintaining accurate and comprehensive case records
• Working collaboratively with colleagues while taking ownership of your own workload

About You

We are looking for an experienced legal professional who is confident managing their own claimant litigation caseload.
Relevant backgrounds could include:

• Personal Injury Fee Earner
• Litigation Executive
• Litigation Paralegal
• Legal Executive / CILEX
• Claims Handler
• Personal Injury Solicitor
• Civil Litigation Fee Earner

You will ideally have experience in claimant Personal Injury, industrial disease or civil litigation, although direct military claims experience is not essential.
The successful candidate will have:

• Experience managing their own caseload
• Experience handling claimant litigation
• Strong understanding of liability, causation and quantum
• Good drafting and written communication skills
• Strong organisational and time-management abilities
• The ability to work independently and take ownership of files
• Strong client management skills
• A professional and empathetic approach when dealing with sensitive matters
• The ability to work effectively as part of a wider team
