Senior/Specialist Occupational Therapist
Salary: Actual salary £35,521 - £42,150 (FTE £41,350 - £49,067), dependent on experience
Contract: Permanent
Hours: 40 hours per week, Term Time Only
We're recruiting for an experienced Senior/Specialist Occupational Therapist to join a specialist education setting supporting children and young people with additional needs. This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a well-established multi-disciplinary team, where you'll play a key role in helping students develop the skills, confidence and independence they need to succeed.
The school supports children and young people aged 7-19 with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and a range of associated social, communication and complex needs, providing specialist education from Key Stage 2 through to Post-16.
The Role
As a Senior/Specialist Occupational Therapist, you'll work as part of a collaborative therapy team, delivering high-quality, person-centred interventions for children and young people with complex presentations, including Autism, sensory processing differences and attachment difficulties.
You'll use your clinical expertise to shape Occupational Therapy provision across the school, ensuring therapy is embedded into students' everyday learning and development.
Your responsibilities will include:
Managing a specialist caseload of children and young people with complex needs.
Carrying out comprehensive Occupational Therapy assessments and delivering evidence-based interventions.
Designing and implementing therapy programmes aligned with EHCP outcomes and clinical recommendations.
Working closely with education staff and the wider multi-disciplinary team to ensure therapy is integrated into daily practice.
Supporting the continued development of Occupational Therapy provision across the school.
Providing training, advice and consultation to colleagues to promote best practice.
Maintaining accurate clinical records in line with HCPC and RCOT standards.
Contributing to the development of resources and therapeutic approaches to improve student outcomes.
About You
We're looking for someone who has:
A recognised degree in Occupational Therapy.
Current HCPC registration.
A commitment to ongoing professional development.
Previous experience working as an Occupational Therapist with children and young people with complex needs.
Experience supporting young people with Autism (ASD), ADHD, and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
The ability to work both independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
A genuine passion for improving outcomes and making a meaningful difference to the lives of children and young people
