About the role
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a leading international law firm in a newly defined Global Head of Commercial Accounting role.
This is a high-impact leadership position, offering the chance to shape and build a truly global commercial finance function within a complex, multi-jurisdictional environment.
The role is central to delivering the organisation's strategic financial objectives, driving profitability, enhancing decision-making, and embedding a consistent, data-led approach to commercial performance across global operations.
This role would suit someone already operating at a similar level in a central commercial finance function, or in a practice group specific role for a large global division.
The Role
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, you will take ownership of commercial accounting globally, with a clear mandate to define and implement a forward-looking operating model.
This is a transformational role with a strong strategic focus, where you will:
- Define and deliver the global vision for commercial accounting
- Build and scale a high-performing, globally aligned team
- Strengthen business partnering with senior stakeholders across regions and practices
- Drive improvements in profitability, pricing, realisation, and working capital
- Embed consistent, insightful reporting to support strategic decision-making
- Lead the evolution of financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and performance management
- Enhance the use of data, systems, and automation to improve transparency and insight
- Play a key role in wider finance transformation initiatives
The position sits at the intersection of finance, strategy, and operations, acting as a key link between financial performance and commercial delivery.
About You
You will be an experienced commercial finance leader, comfortable operating at senior levels within complex, global law firm.
Experience needed
- A proven track record in commercial finance or management accounting within a multi-location professional services or partnership environment
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to translate financial data into clear, actionable insight
- Experience building and leading high-performing, geographically dispersed teams
- The credibility and confidence to influence senior stakeholders and leadership teams
- A strategic mindset, combined with a pragmatic, delivery-focused approach
- Strong change management capability, with experience driving transformation and improvement initiatives
Professionally qualified (ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent) is preferred.
