Sensory & Communication SEN Teaching Assistant - Merton SM4

Are you a patient, caring and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting children with sensory and communication needs?

We are recruiting for a Sensory & Communication SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in the Merton SM4 area, supporting pupils with severe and complex learning difficulties.

The school supports pupils aged 3-19 with PMLD, Autism, physical disabilities, sensory impairments and complex health needs.

This role would suit someone who understands that communication can look different for every child and is confident using sensory, visual and alternative communication approaches to encourage engagement and development.

The Role

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support.

• Support pupils with communication, sensory and complex learning needs.

• Use sensory activities to encourage engagement and interaction.

• Support pupils who are non-verbal or have limited verbal communication.

• Use appropriate visual and alternative communication strategies
