You’ll be joining our
Highways maintenance
team, as the UK’s number one highway maintenance contractor, our teams use the latest innovations to create effective solutions. We offer a range of services including planned and reactive maintenance and highway improvement schemes.

What you'll bring:
You’ll own the highways contract Communication Plan and regularly support and contribute to the annual review which includes ensuring timely and effective dissemination of information regarding roadworks, maintenance, infrastructure projects, and travel disruptions. The plan supports public awareness, stakeholder satisfaction, and collaborative engagement.
Creation and maintenance of the activity schedule
Attendance at Programme Delivery Groups to 0versee and prompt content creation
Ensure work programmes are regularly updated
Publishing and maintaining website content
Creating and/or requesting content for publication
Drafting content and coordinating the publishing of press releases, staff and councillor newsletters, advance programme/schemes information, programme updates and change communications and website and social media content
Liaison with SALC (Suffolk Association of Local Councils)
You’ll define how Suffolk highways engages and distributes stakeholder communications (as per the Stakeholder Management Plan), and use feedback to improve service delivery and communication in collaboration with the customer experience manager.
Provide advance warnings, updates, and change rationales
Other activities will include Management of the Consultation Mailbox, Issuing Emergency Road Closure Notifications, Issuing TTRO Road Closure Notifications, Responding to Social Media Comments (strategy to be defined), Handling Media Enquiries and Issuing Internal Staff Communications
What you'll bring:
Experience of working successfully within a public facing environment
A proven ability to deliver against agreed action plans and improvement programmes
Excellent communication skills – verbal, written and report writing and presentation – to ensure clarity in all situations and to effectively influence decision making.
Exceptional organisational skills - Forward thinking – capable of thinking ahead and planning for the future
An understanding of the contemporary issues within highway maintenance would be desirable
Comfortable with dealing directly with local Councillors,
media
and members of the public
Excellent people and client communication skills with experience of dealing with the media
Strong relationship building skills
A high level
of emotional and social intelligence
Computer literacy with media channels, O365 packages and
PowerBi
Able to work to tight deadlines under pressure
Manage and prioritise own workload
