The role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Employment Counsel to become the sole dedicated employment lawyer supporting the HR function globally.

This is a highly visible and hands-on position, working closely with HR and senior stakeholders across the organisation. The successful individual will provide clear, pragmatic and commercially focused advice across a broad range of employment matters, including employee relations, performance management, immigration and employment issues across multiple jurisdictions.

The role offers genuine ownership and the opportunity to become a trusted legal partner to HR and the wider business. It also offers an excellent opportunity to broaden your commercial and senior stakeholder experience, giving you the breadth of in-house exposure needed to position yourself for future progression into broader legal leadership roles, such as Legal Director or General Counsel. It will suit an employment lawyer who enjoys solving problems independently, is comfortable navigating unfamiliar issues and takes a practical, solutions-oriented approach to legal advice.

Key responsibilities:

• Act as the dedicated Employment Counsel, providing day-to-day employment legal support globally.
• Advise HR and senior stakeholders across a broad range of employment matters.
• Provide practical advice on employee relations and performance management.
• Advise on complex and sensitive employee situations.
• Support the business with immigration and visa-related matters.
• Provide guidance on employment issues across multiple jurisdictions.
• Research unfamiliar legal issues and new jurisdictions as required.
• Deliver clear, commercially focused advice to demanding senior stakeholders.
• Manage relationships with external counsel where specialist advice is required.
• Develop practical employment processes, policies and guidance.
• Partner closely with HR on the organisation's people strategy and continued growth.
• Take ownership of matters from initial instruction through to resolution.

About you:

• Qualified lawyer with 5–7+ years' PQE.
• Strong employment law experience, ideally with significant exposure to business stakeholders.
• Strong experience across employee relations and performance management.
• Exposure to immigration and visa matters would be advantageous.
• Global employment experience is desirable, although specialist knowledge of every jurisdiction is not expected.
• A confident researcher and problem-solver who can quickly get to grips with unfamiliar legal issues.
• Commercial, pragmatic and comfortable providing clear recommendations rather than overly cautious or theoretical advice.
• Confident working with senior and demanding stakeholders.
• Comfortable taking ownership of matters and managing issues directly rather than routinely defaulting to external counsel.
• Resilient, adaptable and able to operate effectively in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
• Someone who enjoys being hands-on and wants genuine ownership of the employment legal agenda.
