- Antrim/ Worldwide Mivan is a dynamic and progressive specialist joinery and interior fit-out contractor in the marine sector, with a reputation for excellence and innovation.

Mivan works both on land based and marine projects.

We are currently recruiting an experienced Senior Marine Estimator to join our Estimating team to ensure highly competitive, carefully resourced, analysed tender costs and prepare quality submissions to clients.

Candidates should have a proven track record in an estimating role with full responsibility for the bidding process from enquiry stage to final submission with extensive knowledge of general building works including new build, refurbishment and fit-out.

It would also be advantageous if the person has experience on tendering marine work.

While also having knowledge of what influences/impacts on estimating, estimating strategies, building methodologies and techniques, and the use of appropriate contracts and the effect they have on the tender requirements.

Marine projects have the same principals as land projects, and the transition from land to marine is fairly straight forward.

Main duties will include: To act as the lead estimator during the tender preparation and coordinate the compilation of the tender submission.

Preparation of enquiry documents using the most appropriate methods Sourcing and assessing supplier and subcontract quotations and, wherever possible, at the most advantageous terms to the Company and in compliance with any specific contract requirements.

Preparation of accurate Bills of Quantities from drawings, specifications and schedule of finishes Liaising with other staff for support on the bid (Design, Operations, Factory, QS, Senior Management).

Establish and actively promote working relationships between all departments, through effective communication and ensuring Company procedures are followed.

Calculation of site management and preliminary costs Arrange and when necessary, chair tender adjudication meetings including preparing the relevant documentation and ensuring that any actions are completed and incorporated within the final submission Identify risks, ambiguities and opportunities within the tender documents and take account of same in preparing the tender.

Evaluating the tender programme requirements to enable efficient cost-effective resource levels to win bids.

Provide support and development to other members of the Estimating team.

Participate in final negotiations Front line Client liaison Arrange and attend handover meetings on successful tenders Post tender and post contract discussions and cost considerations including evaluation of the contract The successful candidate will possess the following: A proven track record in an estimating role with full responsibility for the bidding process from enquiry stage to final submission Extensive knowledge of general construction works where possible, experience in tendering marine projects would be beneficial, and would including new build, refurbishment and fit-out Extensive knowledge of what influences/impacts on estimating, estimating strategies, construction methodologies and techniques, and the use of appropriate contracts and the effect they have on the tender requirements Excellent communication skills Excellent commercial acumen Good IT skills and a working knowledge of integrated computerised estimating and valuation systems.

Work well under pressure and work flexibly to meet deadlines Ability to balance workload, prioritise and organise work Able to work at high concentration levels, under pressure and maintain quality standards The Job Holder will be required to travel in order to assess market conditions and any other factors that may affect the tender submission.

This may involve short periods away from Head Office.

Travel will also be required to meet clients during any stage of the tender process.

Depending on the client's location, travel maybe international.
