Key Maintenance Engineer Responsibilities:
Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance across production and site equipment.
Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults to minimise production downtime.
Act as the lead engineer on site, providing day-to-day technical guidance and support to the engineering team (no direct reports).
Ensure machinery is operating safely, efficiently, and to the required production standards.
Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and emergency maintenance requirements.
Conduct routine inspections, fault finding, and equipment health checks.
Order, fit, and replace components and spare parts as required.
Work closely with the Engineering Manager to improve equipment reliability and site performance.
Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance machine efficiency and reduce recurring faults.
Maintain accurate maintenance records and complete quality inspections on all engineering work.
Promote and maintain high standards of Health & Safety, food safety, and hygiene across the site.
Maintenance Engineer Requirements:
Essential:
Maintenance Engineer with recognised electrical qualifications.
18th Edition Wiring Regulations (or equivalent) is essential.
Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding and maintenance experience.
Previous experience within a food manufacturing, FMCG, or similar production environment.
Ability to prioritise planned maintenance alongside reactive breakdowns.
Excellent communication and organisational skills.
Strong understanding of Health & Safety legislation and safe working practices.
Ability to work independently while leading engineering activities on shift.
Desired:
Time-served apprenticeship in Electrical or Multi Skilled Engineering.
HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
Experience leading or mentoring small engineering teams. xwzovoh
Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies and equipment reliability techniques.
