Quantity Surveyor - Client Side

Client-Side Quantity Surveyor Location: Carlisle, Cumbria Salary: Competitive, depending on experience Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time The Role We are recruiting for an experienced Client-Side Quantity Surveyor to join a property and construction team based in Carlisle. The successful candidate will have a broad understanding of the construction industry and will be responsible for providing commercial and cost management expertise across a varied portfolio of construction and property projects. This is a client-side position, making it ideal for a QS who enjoys working closely with clients, consultants, contractors and internal stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered effectively and within budget. Key Responsibilities * Provide client-side quantity surveying and commercial management across construction projects. * Manage project costs from initial budgets and feasibility through to final account. * Prepare cost plans, estimates, budgets and financial forecasts. * Review tenders, quotations and contractor submissions. * Procure and manage contractors and consultants. * Assess valuations, variations and applications for payment. * Monitor project expenditure and identify commercial risks. * Manage final accounts and ensure costs are accurately reconciled. * Review construction contracts, specifications and project documentation. * Attend project and contractor meetings. * Provide commercial advice to internal stakeholders and project teams. * Monitor project progress against programme and budget. * Ensure appropriate cost control and reporting throughout the project lifecycle. * Work across a variety of construction, refurbishment and property projects. Experience & Requirements * Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor, ideally with client-side experience. * Broad all-round construction knowledge across different project types. * Strong understanding of construction costs, procurement and contracts. * Experience managing budgets, valuations, variations and final accounts. * Confident dealing with contractors, consultants and senior stakeholders. * Strong commercial and analytical skills. * Excellent communication and negotiation abilities. * Relevant Quantity Surveying qualification or equivalent experience. * MRICS or working towards chartership would be advantageous but not essential. * Based within a commutable distance of Carlisle or willing to relocate.
