This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced and technically strong engineer who is confident taking ownership of commissioning activities on complex projects, while also providing leadership and guidance on-site. The Role As a Senior Commissioning Engineer, you will be responsible for the full commissioning lifecycle of fire detection and alarm systems—from programming and testing through to final handover. You will act as a technical authority on-site, supporting installation teams, liaising with stakeholders, and ensuring all systems are delivered in line with BS 5839-1 and project specifications. Key Responsibilities * Commission and validate both addressable and conventional fire alarm systems * Program and configure fire alarm control panels from leading manufacturers * Carry out cause-and-effect testing, system verification, and client acceptance testing * Produce detailed commissioning documentation, including reports and certification * Provide technical support and mentorship to junior engineers and installation teams * Liaise with clients, contractors, and project managers throughout delivery * Diagnose and resolve complex faults and system integration issues * Lead commissioning phases on large-scale or technically complex projects * Ensure all work complies with industry standards and best practices About You * Level 3 qualification in BS 5839-1 (essential) * Minimum of 5 years’ experience commissioning fire alarm systems * Strong working knowledge of systems such as Advanced, Kentec, Morley, Gent, Notifier, Apollo, and Hochiki * Solid understanding of cause-and-effect programming, networking, and system integration * Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications * Excellent communication and client-facing skills * Experience mentoring or supporting other engineers * IT literate, with experience using commissioning software and reporting tools * Full UK driving licence (essential) * Motivated to progress and take on increasing responsibility
