About the role
New Directions are working closely with a SEND school in Shirley. This all-age (4 to 19 year) specialises in educating children and young people with a lead diagnosis of Autism as well as other additional needs such as non-verbal communication, behaviour that challenges and sensory challenges.
The school is looking for qualified teachers (with QTS) to work on a casual but regular basis across, working 2-5 days per week covering planned and unplanned teacher absence across the primary and secondary departments. * Support pupils to engage with learning activities using structured approaches (e.g. visual supports, clear routines)
* Support staff to work to their full potential
Person Requirements
* Experience of working with children or young people with varying SEND and/or additional needs
* Ability to remain calm, patient, and consistent in demanding situations
* Highly adaptable to the needs of the learners and staff
