About the role

Teaching Assistant – SEN / SEMH

Location: Mildenhall
Start Date: January 2027
Contract: Permanent or Temp-to-Permanent
Salary: Competitive – dependent on experience

Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of young people?

We are looking for a dedicated, enthusiastic and resilient Teaching Assistant to join the team at our amazing school, an independent specialist school supporting young people aged 11–18 with a range of additional needs.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who wants to do more than simply support lessons. You'll play an important role in helping young people rebuild confidence, develop positive attitudes towards learning and achieve things they may previously have thought were out of reach.

About the School

We have been supporting young people since 2005, providing specialist education for pupils with a range of additional needs, including:

*

Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC/ASD)

*

ADHD

*

Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs

*

Learning difficulties

*

Other Special Educational Needs (SEN)

The school's approach is centred around understanding each individual pupil and providing the right balance of academic support, care and guidance.

With a strong focus on personal development, independence and preparing pupils for life beyond education, the school aims to give every young person the opportunity to fulfil their potential.

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will:

*

Support pupils both inside and outside the classroom.

*

Work with young people with a variety of SEN/SEMH needs.

*

Help create a positive, safe and engaging learning environment.

*

Build strong, supportive relationships with pupils.

*

Encourage positive behaviour, confidence and independence.

*

Provide one-to-one and small-group support where required.

*

Work closely with teaching staff to help pupils achieve their individual goals.

The Ideal Candidate

We would love to hear from candidates who are:

*

Passionate about working with young people with additional needs.

*

Patient, empathetic and resilient.

*

Confident managing challenging behaviour and supporting emotional regulation.

*

Able to build positive relationships and gain the trust of pupils.

*

Proactive, enthusiastic and willing to get stuck in.

*

Experienced in SEN, SEMH, education or youth work – although a genuine passion for supporting young people is equally important.

What's on Offer?

*

January 2027 start.

*

Permanent or temp-to-permanent opportunities.

*

The opportunity to join a supportive specialist education environment.

*

A rewarding role where you can genuinely change young people's lives.

*

Opportunities to develop your experience and career within SEN education.

Interested?

If you're looking for a rewarding new opportunity from January and want to make a genuine difference to young people's lives, we'd love to hear from you.
