Senior Structural Design Engineer - Job Description Location: Manchester (Hybrid: remote + occasional office/site visits) Type: Contract (6 months initial) Rate: £400-£500/day (Outside IR35) Role Overview We are seeking an experienced Senior Structural Design Engineer to support a Tier 1 Design & Build contractor within the water industry. The role involves delivering structural design solutions across water and wastewater infrastructure projects, working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams. Key Responsibilities Lead and deliver structural design for water and wastewater infrastructure projects Produce and review design calculations, drawings, and specifications Ensure designs comply with relevant codes, standards, and project requirements Coordinate with civil, mechanical, electrical, and process teams Support design reviews, risk assessments, and value engineering Engage with site teams and stakeholders to ensure buildable and efficient solutions Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers Requirements Degree-qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering Proven experience in structural design within the water sector Strong knowledge of reinforced concrete and structural analysis Familiar with UK design standards (Eurocodes, BS) Experience working with Tier 1 contractors or major infrastructure projects Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills Additional Information Outside IR35 contract Flexible hybrid working model Occasional travel to offices and project sites required
