Quantity Surveyor - Education Structure Build

What you'll be doing
As Quantity Surveyor, you will manage the costs and income associated with your area of responsibility, helping the project achieve its commercial, programme, quality and customer objectives.Your responsibilities will include:Measuring, recording and valuing works in accordance with contractual requirements and company proceduresManaging the commercial performance of structural and building work packagesPreparing cost-value reconciliations, forecasts and commercial reportsReviewing drawings, specifications and works informationPreparing bills of quantities, schedules of rates and first-principle estimatesProcuring subcontractors and managing subcontract enquiries, tender comparisons and adjudicationsManaging subcontract accounts, including valuations, payments, variations and final accountsWorking with the project team to plan commercial activities in line with the construction programmeCollating and reporting accurate cost and value informationDeveloping a strong understanding of the customer contract and associated commercial risksIdentifying, assessing and managing change, delay and disruptionBuilding effective relationships with the customer, subcontractors and key stakeholdersSupporting and mentoring less-experienced members of the commercial team where required
Who we're looking for
You will have:Previous Quantity Surveying experience within the construction industryStrong experience on building, structural or major construction projectsExperience managing subcontract procurement and subcontract accountsGood knowledge of construction contracts and commercial processesThe ability to interpret drawings, specifications and programme informationExperience preparing forecasts, cost reports and cost-value reconciliationsStrong commercial awareness and attention to detailEffective communication, negotiation and stakeholder-management skillsThe ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary project teamQualificationsIdeally, you will hold:A BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying, or equivalent commercial experienceAn appropriate CSCS cardMembership of, or be working towards membership of, the RICS, ICES or CIOBWhy join us?This is an opportunity to join Balfour Beatty at the beginning of a newly awarded project and play an important role in establishing its commercial success.You will work on a significant building scheme in Glasgow, develop your experience across complex structural and construction packages, and be part of a collaborative team committed to delivering high-quality infrastructure for our customer.At Balfour Beatty, our behaviours are to Talk Positively, Collaborate Relentlessly, Encourage Constantly, Make a Difference and Value Everyone.About Balfour BeattyBalfour Beatty is a leading international infrastructure group.
