Specialist Rotational Pharmacist – Surgery and Planned Care (LW)

Overview
Do you want to be at the forefront of transforming clinical pharmacy, working with a dynamic team? Would you like to develop your clinical skills across a range of specialities before deciding in which area to develop advanced practice? Due to recent staff movement we now have a vacancy in our established Specialist Pharmacist Rotational Programme. This post would be ideal for a motivated, patient‑centred and passionate individual looking to take the next step in their career. Each rotation would be 9 months and will include the following areas.
Rotations
- General Surgery
- Cancer Services
- Orthopaedic Surgery
- Rheumatology
Responsibilities
The programme is based in Kirkcaldy, at the Victoria Hospital / Whyteman’s Brae Hospital and will provide the opportunity for individuals to work with patients and multidisciplinary teams in both inpatient and outpatient settings. There will be opportunities to have direct involvement in pharmacist‑led clinics, training and development in specialist areas, support and lead service‑development projects and expand your clinical practice in a fast‑paced, evolving inpatient ward environments. You will be fully integrated into the wider service and supported by pharmacy technicians, foundation pharmacists, MDT members and senior clinical pharmacists, all under the leadership of our Lead Clinical Pharmacists.
Qualifications and Requirements
An Independent Prescribing qualification is desirable, and for candidates not yet qualified, we will fully support training, supervised practice and post‑registration frameworks. Previous hospital experience is not essential as training and support will be given. A requirement of this post is to become a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme prior to appointment. To work in the United Kingdom, there is a legal requirement to demonstrate that you have the relevant permission to work in the country; this permission is, without exception, granted by the UK Visa and Immigrations Service.
Employment Conditions
As from 1/4/26, the Agenda for Change full‑time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part‑time hours will be reduced pro‑rata. However, there will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay will not be affected. Please note the salary is pro‑rata for part‑time hours.
