Literacy Intervention Assistant School Type: Secondary Alternative Provision Location: Chesterfield (S41) Pay Scale: £430 - £495 Take Home Per Week (after all deductions) Duration: Long-term to permanent Start Date: ASAP Join Our Team Long Term Futures are working in partnership with an Alternative Provision Trust in Chesterfield (S41) to appoint a dedicated Literacy Intervention Assistant to support pupils across KS3 and KS4. The provision supports learners with SEMH needs, behavioural challenges, and barriers to mainstream education within a structured and nurturing environment. This role focuses on delivering targeted literacy, phonics, reading, and oracy interventions to help students re-engage with learning, build confidence, and improve outcomes. This is a highly rewarding long-term opportunity with the potential to progress into a permanent role. What You'll Do Deliver targeted literacy and phonics interventions on a 1:1 and small group basis Support pupils with reading, phonics, spelling, comprehension, and oracy development Monitor learner progress and adapt intervention strategies to meet individual needs Build strong, positive relationships to encourage engagement and emotional regulation Support the wider development of literacy resources and intervention programmes across the provision Promote a positive culture of reading and literacy throughout the school Work collaboratively with literacy leads, teaching staff, and pastoral teams to support student progressWhat We're Looking For Experience delivering literacy or phonics interventions, ideally using Read Write Inc Fresh Start or similar programmes Experience supporting pupils with SEMH and behavioural needs is highly desirable A resilient, patient, and adaptable approach to supporting young people Strong communication and relationship-building skills A genuine passion for helping students overcome barriers to learning A valid driving licence and access to transport (mileage expenses included).
