Role Profile:
- As In-House Legal Advisor, you will support our Head of Legal & Compliance as they continue to build out Leyton’s expanding Legal & Compliance function. Working closely with our Legal Assistant, you will primarily focus on reviewing, preparing and negotiating client agreements, consultancy agreements and supplier contracts, as well as leading on resolution of post-signature matters.
Responsibilities:
Contracting
- Reviewing, preparing and negotiating client agreements, supplier contracts and consultancy agreements, ensuring maximum benefit for Leyton whilst appropriately managing risk within a complex legal and regulatory environment. Assisting Head of Legal & Compliance in preparing playbooks and working closely with key stakeholders to manage post-signature matters.
Data Protection
- Assisting Head of Legal & Compliance in managing legal and regulatory aspects of data privacy, including handling GDPR compliance and related issues plus maintaining relevant records.
Compliance & Risk
- Supporting Head of Legal & Compliance in undertaking risk assessments of relevant Leyton policies and procedures, ensuring ongoing compliance and exploring increased efficiency via streamlined internal processes (including adopting automation/AI as appropriate).
General Legal Support
- As a first point of contact for Legal & Compliance team to internal clients and stakeholders, triaging enquiries and responding to requests for support with efficiency and professionalism. Assisting Head of Legal & Compliance in preparing and delivering business-wide training on relevant legal and regulatory matters.
Competencies:
Legal and Regulatory Knowledge
- Thorough working knowledge of contract law, including reviewing and preparing legal agreements such as engagement letters, consultancy agreements, supplier contracts and general terms and conditions.
Attention to Detail
- High standard of accuracy in drafting and reviewing documents.
Communication and Stakeholder Management
- Ability to explain legal concepts in plain English, tailoring messaging for non-legal stakeholders.
Confidentiality and Integrity
- Handles sensitive information with discretion, ensuring confidentiality and data security at all times.
Candidate Requirements:
- Circa 1-3 years PQE. Experience in commercial law, commercial contracts, compliance and/or compliance.
