About the role
Manufacturing Engineer
Towcester | £30,000–£49,000 | 8:00am–4:00pm
This is a hands-on, practical role where you will be the team's key problem solver, liaising closely with Design Engineers to turn designs into physical products. With a growing business and varied projects, there is a clear pathway to progress and develop your career.
We are looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to join a specialist defence business producing ruggedised electronic and electromechanical systems designed for challenging environments. You will work closely with Design Engineering and Operations to develop and improve manufacturing processes, understand engineering drawings, take products from design through to build and resolve manufacturing issues.
A key part of the role will be acting as the link between Engineering and Production, supporting and training operators to ensure products are built correctly. The role will also involve investigating defects, identifying root causes, implementing corrective actions and supporting New Product Introduction and continuous improvement activities.
The company is open to different levels of experience. Candidates with a couple of years’ manufacturing or engineering experience will be supported and trained, including in-house IPC-A-610 training, while experienced Senior Manufacturing Engineers can have the role tailored to their level, with greater ownership and responsibility.
You must be able to read engineering drawings and take a practical, hands-on approach to problem-solving. Strong communication skills are important, as you will be working closely with both engineers and operators.
Knowledge of IPC-A-610 is highly desirable, alongside experience in electronic manufacturing, SMT or soldering. Experience with mechanical assembly, circuit board integration, conformal coating, press-fit tooling or Lean Manufacturing would also be advantageous.
Key Requirements
Experience working within a high-tech manufacturing environment.
2+ years' Manufacturing Engineering or relevant engineering experience.
Hands-on experience in electromechanical products
