About the role

Start: September (Full-time) Where: South Manchester Salary: MPS 1-6 Tradewind Recruitment are currently recruiting for a dedicated and enthusiastic Year 1 Class Teacher to join a welcoming primary school in South Manchester on a maternity cover basis from September. The school provides a nurturing environment where all pupils are encouraged to develop both academically and socially. The successful candidate will take full responsibility for a Year 1 class, delivering engaging and creative lessons that support pupils as they transition from EYFS into Key Stage 1. You will play a key role in developing early reading, writing, and phonics skills, while ensuring all pupils remain motivated, confident, and supported in their learning. This role would suit both Early Career Teachers and experienced practitioners who have a passion for Key Stage 1. The school is looking for a positive, patient, and proactive individual who can build strong relationships with pupils, staff, and parents. Key responsibilities include: * Planning and delivering engaging, differentiated lessons in line with the Key Stage 1 curriculum * Supporting early phonics and reading development * Creating a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom environment * Assessing, tracking, and reporting on pupil progress * Managing behaviour effectively and promoting positive learning attitudes * Working collaboratively with colleagues, support staff, and parents * Supporting pupils with SEND to ensure full access to learning To be considered for this role, candidates should: * Hold QTS or be working towards it * Have experience teaching within Key Stage 1, ideally Year 1 * Demonstrate strong knowledge of phonics and early learning strategies * Be committed to inclusive and child-centred teaching * Hold an enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to apply for one * Be able to provide satisfactory references This is an excellent opportunity to make a real impact in a key stage of children's development within a supportive and forward-thinking school.
