Your new company

A well-established independent accountancy practice is looking to recruit an experienced Accounts Senior to join its growing team.

The firm works with a broad mix of clients across a range of sectors, including engineering, and provides a full range of services covering accounts, audit, corporate and personal tax, VAT and advisory work. Accounts makes up the larger proportion of the workload, giving you the opportunity to gain broad, hands-on experience across a varied client base.

This appointment comes at an exciting time for the firm, with longer-term succession planning creating genuine opportunities for someone looking to develop and progress within a supportive independent practice

Your new role

As an Accounts Senior, you will manage your own portfolio of predominantly limited companies alongside sole traders, partnerships and charities.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing statutory accounts for limited companies
  • Preparing accounts for sole traders and partnerships
  • Corporation tax compliance
  • Personal tax returns, including company directors
  • VAT returns and general VAT matters
  • Management accounts
  • Supporting clients with HMRC queries
  • Assisting with the implementation of relevant accounting standards
  • Supervising and supporting junior members of the team
  • Building strong relationships with your own portfolio of clients
  • Supporting the Audit Manager where required
  • Getting involved in more specialist and advisory projects as your experience develops
What you'll need to succeed

You'll ideally have previous experience working within an accountancy practice and be comfortable preparing year-end accounts for limited companies. A broad understanding of tax and VAT would be beneficial, alongside the confidence to deal directly with clients.

The firm is particularly keen to find someone who wants to continue developing their technical knowledge while taking on greater responsibility for client relationships and junior staff.

What you'll get in return

This is a great opportunity to join a smaller, established practice where you'll be given a genuinely varied workload and the chance to develop across accounts, tax, audit and advisory work.

You'll benefit from your own client portfolio, direct exposure to the partners and the opportunity to progress as the practice moves through its next stage of succession and development.
