Remote Bookkeeper

I’m currently recruiting for a growing UK accountancy practice that specialises in working with marketing and service agencies. Due to continued growth, they’re looking to add an experienced Bookkeeper to their Monthly Delivery Team. This is a proper practice-based bookkeeping role, where you’ll take ownership of your own portfolio of clients rather than working on the books for one business. You’ll manage a portfolio of around 40-60 monthly retainer clients, predominantly UK-based service agencies with turnovers ranging from approximately £200k to £2m. Your responsibilities will include bank reconciliations, transaction coding, VAT workings and preparing month-end packs ready for review. You’ll have genuine ownership of your portfolio from an early stage, working closely with clients throughout the year rather than only getting involved around year-end. What they’re looking for * At least 3 years’ experience working within a UK accountancy practice * Experience managing 30+ clients simultaneously * Strong knowledge of Xero and QuickBooks Online * Good understanding of UK VAT, including standard rate, flat rate and cash accounting * High attention to detail and a genuine pride in producing clean, accurate books * Someone proactive who takes ownership and is comfortable chasing information when needed * Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong client relationships What’s on offer * £30,000-£35,000 salary, depending on experience * Fully remote - work from anywhere in the UK * Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week * 28 days’ holiday including bank holidays * Pension * PAYE employment * A modern, growing accountancy practice where bookkeeping is viewed as a key part of delivering quality advice to clients This would suit an experienced practice Bookkeeper who enjoys having ownership of a client portfolio and wants the flexibility of a genuinely remote role. Industry-only bookkeeping experience unfortunately won’t be suitable for this position - UK accountancy practice experience is essential.
