At Tetra Tech you will support the delivery of high-quality mechanical building services projects across a diverse range of sectors, helping to develop and strengthen a busy and successful team in Manchester.Purpose & Scope of the RoleAs a Professional Senior Mechanical Building Services Engineer, you will lead and deliver multiple low-complexity projects independently and contribute to more complex projects under the direction of senior colleagues. You will be responsible for the full scope of mechanical engineering consultancy services, including calculations, drawings, specifications, reports, site surveys, construction-stage duties, client liaison, and coordination with internal and external design teams. You will also support project delivery, manage your own workload, and contribute to team development.Your Impact in this positionYou will play a key role in delivering effective mechanical design solutions that meet client briefs, programme requirements, and technical standards. Your expertise will help strengthen client relationships, improve design quality, support, manage, help develop junior colleagues, and contribute to the successful delivery of projects across public and private sector environments.Core CapabilitiesTechnical Mechanical Design ExpertiseStrong competence in core mechanical design principles, calculations, specifications, drawings, and reporting.Project Delivery & LeadershipAbility to lead and deliver multiple projects, take design responsibility, and manage deliverables proactively.Digital Design & Technical ToolsExperience with AutoCAD, Autodesk Revit MEP, IES, NBS, and Microsoft packages. Further training may be provided where required.Client & Stakeholder EngagementStrong communication, negotiation, and collaboration skills with clients, consultants, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams.Mentoring & Team SupportAbility to guide and support junior to intermediate engineers while contributing to a collaborative team culture.Skills, Qualifications & ExperienceIdeally, you will hold an accredited Building Services or Mechanical Engineering degree, or a higher-level qualification. Chartered status, or working towards chartership, is desirable. You should have experience delivering mechanical building services designs across multiple sectors from concept to RIBA stage 5/6, with a strong understanding of technical and legislative requirements for mechanical and public health services. Experience with sustainability, energy conservation, renewable technologies, fee estimates, bids, and security clearance (or meet the criteria to hold) MOD SC level is required.Working EnvironmentThis role is based in Manchester within a busy building services team. Hybrid or flexible working arrangements may be available, depending on project and business needs.
