An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a well-established and growing manufacturing and fabrication business as Operations Director. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, this is a key leadership appointment with responsibility for driving operational performance, leading strategic improvement initiatives, and supporting the continued growth of the business.
This opportunity will suit an experienced operations leader who enjoys working in a hands-on manufacturing environment and has a proven track record of improving operational performance while developing high-performing teams.
The Opportunity
As Operations Director, you will lead all operational functions across the business, ensuring efficiency, quality and customer delivery remain at the forefront. Working closely with the senior leadership team, you will drive continuous improvement and help shape the future direction of the organisation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead production, supply chain, procurement, warehousing and logistics.
- Develop and deliver operational strategy aligned with business objectives.
- Drive Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Improve operational performance through KPIs and data-led decision making.
- Manage operational budgets and cost control.
- Lead, develop and mentor operational teams.
- Optimise processes, inventory and product availability.
- Deliver operational change and transformation projects.
- Ensure compliance with health & safety and quality standards.
- Partner with the senior leadership team to support business growth.
About You
We're looking for someone who can demonstrate:
- Experience as an Operations Director or Head of Operations within manufacturing or fabrication.
- A strong background in engineering, technical manufacturing or a similar industrial environment.
- Expertise across production, supply chain and operational planning.
- Experience with Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement.
- Strong commercial and financial awareness.
- A hands-on leadership style with excellent people management skills.
- Experience of overseas sourcing and outsourced manufacturing.
- Knowledge of ERP systems and data-driven decision making.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- The ability to lead operational change within a growing business.
