Principal Highways Engineer

We have an opening for a passionate Principal Highways Engineer to join a expanding London team. We are looking for someone who has a minimum of 5 years’ experience in highways Design to assist the delivery development planning projects across the UK. You’ll be joining a team of expert engineering consultants with the latest industry design software who develop innovative solutions for active travel, public transport and highway infrastructure improvements to support development proposals. What’s on offerHybrid / Flexible working approachCPD supportAnnual appraisalsInhouse training opportunitiesExternal training coursesProfessional membership paidSocial activities within the companyThe rolePreparing preliminary stage highway link and junction designs, active travel corridors, and traffic calming schemes.Producing swept path analysis and vehicle tracking.Input into technical reports including site access appraisals, Stage 1 Road Safety Audit briefs and Designer’s Responses and S278 Preliminary Design Check Submissions.What you need to succeedYou must have a minimum of 5 years in the use of AutoCAD and good experience in the use of Civil 3D.Good knowledge of highway design guidance including MfS, DMRB, and LTN 1/20Proficient in the use of the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions and Traffic Signs ManualExperience of S278/S38 AgreementsKnowledge of SPONS Civil Engineering and Highway Works.Knowledge of traffic modelling and its influence on highway design.Professional qualifications, i.e. EngTech / IEng / CEng; and ICE / CIHT / CILT membership.
