We are seeking an exceptional Pastoral Lead to join our dedicated team at a thriving Alternative Provision in Mid Essex. This is a rewarding opportunity to play a key role in supporting students with a range of social, emotional and behavioural needs, helping them to overcome challenges and achieve positive outcomes both academically and personally.
About the Role
As Pastoral Lead, you will be responsible for leading and coordinating pastoral support across the provision, ensuring that every student feels safe, valued and supported to succeed. Working closely with staff, families, external agencies and other professionals, you will develop strong relationships that promote attendance, engagement, wellbeing and personal development.
The successful candidate will be a highly visible presence throughout the provision, providing guidance, intervention and support to students while championing a positive and restorative culture.
Key Responsibilities
· Lead the provision's pastoral support and intervention programmes.
· Manage student wellbeing, behaviour and attendance initiatives.
· Build positive relationships with students, families and carers.
· Work collaboratively with teaching staff and external agencies to support vulnerable learners.
· Develop and implement personalised support plans.
· Provide safeguarding support as part of the wider safeguarding team.
· Promote positive behaviour, resilience and emotional wellbeing.
· Monitor and evaluate pastoral interventions to ensure positive outcomes.
About You
We are looking for someone who:
· Has experience working with young people with SEMH, behavioural or additional needs.
· Has excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
· Demonstrates a restorative and trauma-informed approach.
· Has experience of managing challenging situations calmly and professionally.
· Is passionate about improving outcomes for vulnerable and disengaged learners.
· Can work effectively with families, schools and multi-agency partners.
· Has a sound understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
