Public Protection Officer (Noise & Statutory Nuisance)

Havering £23.27 per hour PAYE / £30.38 per hour Umbrella Full TimeAre you an experienced Environmental Protection professional with a strong background in statutory nuisance and noise investigations? Our client, a London Local Authority, is seeking a knowledgeable and motivated Public Protection Officer to join their team. The Role As a Public Protection Officer, you will play a key role in protecting residents and improving environmental standards across the borough. You will investigate complaints relating to environmental protection and statutory nuisance matters, with a particular focus on noise nuisance cases. Key responsibilities include: Investigating statutory nuisance and environmental protection complaints Conducting enforcement activities and serving notices where required Managing a varied environmental protection caseload Providing comments and advice on licensing applications, planning applications, and Section 61 consents Attending court proceedings, hearings, and tribunals to provide evidence Leading on prosecutions in line with the Council's Enforcement Policy Using noise monitoring equipment and interpreting results where necessary Working collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders to deliver an effective serviceAbout You To be successful in this role, you will have: Experience investigating statutory nuisance cases, particularly noise complaints Knowledge of Environmental Protection legislation and enforcement processes Experience serving statutory notices and undertaking enforcement action Strong report writing, communication, and case management skills The ability to manage a diverse and demanding caseload effectively Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and case management systems Experience attending court or formal hearings would be highly advantageous Experience using noise monitoring equipment is desirable A Degree, Diploma, or relevant professional qualification in Environmental Health, Environmental Protection, or a related discipline (or equivalent)If you have the experience and expertise to excel in this role, we'd love to hear from you.
