Location: Primarily remote working - Ad hoc travel required
Clearance: BPSS Clearance required
Rate: £550 per day inside IR35
3 month rolling contract

Overview
We are seeking an experienced Solution / Technical Architect to join a team responsible for delivering a large-scale digital Health Assessment Service. This is a key architectural role combining both technical and solution architecture responsibilities, providing leadership across cloud, application, integration, data, and operational domains.
You will play a pivotal role in shaping the service architecture as it evolves from private beta through to full-scale production, ensuring solutions are scalable, secure, resilient, and aligned to business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Define and maintain end-to-end solution architectures and technical designs across the service landscape.
Provide architectural governance, technical leadership, and design assurance.
Collaborate closely with engineering, product, and delivery teams to guide implementation activities.
Ensure solutions meet non-functional requirements including performance, scalability, resilience, security, availability, and disaster recovery.
Support the service's transition from beta into full production operation.
Review and evaluate technical decisions, ensuring alignment with architectural principles and best practices.
Drive consistency across architecture patterns, standards, and design approaches.
Contribute to roadmap planning and strategic technology decisions.

Essential Skills & Experience
Proven experience operating as a Solution Architect, Technical Architect, or similar architecture role.
Strong expertise designing and delivering cloud-native solutions on AWS.
Demonstrable experience with microservices architectures, event-driven systems, and API-led design.
Strong understanding of Java/Spring Boot-based architectures and modern web applications.
Experience designing for scalability, resilience, operational readiness, and disaster recovery.
Ability to provide technical leadership and architectural governance across multidisciplinary delivery teams.
Experience working within Agile delivery environments.
Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
Desirable Experience
Experience working within the public sector.
Experience delivering large-scale digital transformation programmes or citizen-facing services.
Knowledge of beta-to-live service transitions and operational scaling.
Experience within healthcare, health assessment, or other highly regulated industries.
Familiarity with Government Digital Service (GDS) principles and standards
