We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Business Studies Teacher to join the team at Stranraer Academy. This is an exciting opportunity to inspire and engage young learners, fostering their understanding of the dynamic world of business, finance and enterprise.
You will be responsible for delivering high quality Business Studies education across all stages of the secondary school curriculum. Stranraer Academy is a modern six-year comprehensive, non-denominational Secondary school, serving the area of Wigtownshire called the Rhins and is one of fifteen secondary schools in Dumfries and Galloway. The current school roll is 1003. There are 12 associated primary schools with pupils coming from small rural communities to large urban areas. The school benefits from an active and well-established Parent Council who are supportive of the school and work collaboratively to ensure the school is an integral part of its community. The current senior management structure consists of a Headteacher, four Depute Headteachers and a School Support Manager. Stranraer Academy has a large enthusiastic staff, an extensive campus and underwent a major refurbishment in 2010. The school has generous playing fields and sports facilities.
The school is situated in the town of Stranraer which lies on the shore of Loch Ryan and is the second largest town in Dumfries and Galloway, an area of outstanding natural beauty. It is an area with good facilities and strong communities committed to their schools.
Good housing is affordable, and the area is easy to reach by car from Dumfries (1h 30 mins), Glasgow (2h). There are convenient road and rail links.
