Estimator (Fire Door Manufacturing)

ProGroup Recruitment are working with an established specialist manufacturer supplying bespoke products to the construction and commercial interiors sectors. With continued growth and a strong focus on quality, the business is looking for an Estimator to join its commercial team. This is an opportunity to work on varied customer projects, develop your technical product knowledge and collaborate closely with sales, technical and manufacturing colleagues. You’ll have ownership of your quotations and contribute to solutions that meet customer requirements and can be delivered effectively. The role Reporting to the Estimating Manager, you’ll turn customer drawings, specifications and project information into accurate, competitive quotations. You’ll review requirements, resolve information gaps and work with colleagues to ensure proposed products are technically appropriate, practical to manufacture and commercially viable. Your responsibilities will include: * Preparing quotations from customer enquiries, technical drawings, specifications and schedules. * Identifying missing or conflicting information and clarifying requirements with customers and colleagues. * Clearly recording scope, assumptions, exclusions and commercial or technical risks. * Issuing quotations and revisions within agreed deadlines. * Working with sales, technical, production control and manufacturing teams to confirm suitable solutions. * Supporting regional sales colleagues with pricing, revisions and project queries. * Maintaining accurate quotation logs, customer records and supporting documentation. * Managing multiple enquiries and communicating workload priorities with the Estimating Manager. * Building your product knowledge and contributing ideas to improve estimating processes. About you You’ll be confident interpreting technical drawings and specifications, comfortable working with figures and able to communicate clearly with customers and colleagues. Experience preparing estimates, quotations or tenders within manufacturing, construction, joinery, doorsets or building products would be particularly relevant. Candidates from technical sales or quotations roles with suitable experience are also encouraged to apply. We’re looking for: * Strong numerical skills and attention to detail. * The ability to translate technical information into clear quotation requirements. * Commercial awareness and an understanding of pricing, risk and customer expectations. * Good organisation and the ability to manage competing deadlines. * Confidence asking questions and resolving incomplete or unclear information. * Strong Microsoft Office skills and the ability to learn company systems. * A proactive, collaborative approach and willingness to develop product knowledge. Experience using estimating, CRM or ERP systems would be an advantage, as would a relevant technical, construction, manufacturing or estimating qualification.
