We are recruiting for a Delivery Lead to join a leading Tier 1 contractor on a major civil engineering section of HS2. This is a pivotal role within a high‑performing project team shaping the future of national transport infrastructure.
The Role
Reporting to the Project Director, you will take responsibility for a significant portion of a large-scale infrastructure programme. You will lead multidisciplinary teams and work closely with stakeholders to ensure seamless coordination across procurement, design, construction, and assurance functions.
You will play a pivotal role in delivering works safely, on time, and within budget, while fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture across all delivery partners.
Key Responsibilities
Define and implement delivery strategy in line with overall programme objectives
Lead and manage large, multidisciplinary teams, including Senior Project Managers and functional leads
Ensure safe, efficient, and compliant delivery of works in accordance with programme schedules
Oversee coordination between design, procurement, construction, and assurance teams
Take full accountability for project budgets, forecasts, and timelines
Drive continuous improvement across quality, safety, cost, and programme performance
Manage client relationships and act as the key point of escalation
Oversee procurement activities, including review and approval of scopes prior to tender
Lead reporting to senior stakeholders, including progress, risks, and financial performance
Lead investigations into safety and quality issues, implementing lessons learned and preventative measures
Foster collaboration across stakeholders, supply chain partners, and internal teams About You
Proven leadership experience managing teams of 30+ in complex project environments
Strong background in infrastructure or major construction programmes
Demonstrable experience managing budgets and NEC contracts
Excellent client and stakeholder management skills
Strong understanding of project management methodologies and delivery frameworks
Experience across planning, procurement, commercial management, and contract administration
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present at Director and Board level
Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
Extensive knowledge of health & safety regulations and compliance requirements
Experience working in multidisciplinary environments
