Senior Highways Engineer

We are seeking a Senior Civil Engineer with a consultancy background to join their established infrastructure team to help address their ever-expanding workload. The ideal candidate should be comfortable with highway design and willing to learn some drainage design, encompassing projects both within the public highway and on-site. We are looking for someone able to take instruction from the senior members of the team and then complete the tasks either independently or working with our junior members of the team, helping to impart their knowledge and improve junior experience.Expect to work on…Section 278 / 38 Highway DesignsHighway designs to DMRB and Local Authority guidelinesResidential Estate Roads, Commercial / Industrial AccessGround Modelling / Earthworks Design to include geotechnical and environmental appraisal & Pavement designsWhat’s on offerHybrid working arrangements with core working hoursDiscretionary performance-related bonusPrivate medical insuranceSeason travel ticket loanCycle to work SchemeMaternity and Paternity benefitsIndividual personal development and trainingSports and social club with monthly outings/eventsContinuing professional development and training, including assistance with chartershipProfessional membershipsWhat you need to succeedAt least 5 years’ experience working in a UK consultancy on both highway and drainage design schemesTechnical experience within the field of Civil Engineering design, covering several aspects of preliminary and detailed design of levels and external worksExperience liaising with both internal and external bodies, including planning authorities, statutory undertakers, and national bodies such as National HighwaysExperience in design delivery, including multi-disciplinary designsA proficiency using our industry-standard design packages AutoCAD and Civil 3DA practical knowledge of relevant highway design standards, guidelines and processesCan multitask and manage a portfolio of projects across various scalesCan communicate effectively and professionally with the design team, clients, and contractorsUnderstand the multi-disciplinary nature of projects from the planning stage, through to completionChartered or working towards being chartered with ICEA proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite of software, including Excel
