Red Sky Personnel is recruiting on behalf of a Tier 1 client for a Sub Agent to join their team delivering ground investigation works in support of the new runway at Heathrow Airport. This is a great opportunity for an experienced site engineer or Sub Agent to get involved in one of the UK's largest infrastructure programmes at an early, technically interesting stage, working on the geotechnical groundwork that underpins the wider scheme. The Role You'll support the Agent in the day-to-day delivery of ground investigation works, coordinating drilling crews, specialist GI subcontractors and site teams to ensure works are carried out safely, to programme and to the required technical standard, within the constraints of a live airport environment. Key responsibilities include: Supervising ground investigation activities on site, including boreholes, trial pits, cable percussion/rotary drilling and in-situ testing Coordinating GI subcontractors, drilling rigs and specialist plant to keep works progressing to programme Liaising with geotechnical engineers and the design team on borehole locations, testing requirements and any site-specific issues arising from ground conditions Supporting the Agent with day-to-day site management, including labour, plant and materials coordination Ensuring RAMS, permits and airside access requirements are in place and adhered to before works commence Maintaining site diaries, progress records and quality documentation in line with project and client requirements Monitoring health, safety and environmental compliance across all GI activities Attending site meetings and reporting progress, risks and any technical issues to the Agent/Senior Agent What We're Looking For Proven experience as a Sub Agent, Site Engineer or similar, ideally with exposure to ground investigation or geotechnical works Understanding of GI techniques and methods (cable percussion, rotary/rotary sonic drilling, trial pitting, CPT, in-situ testing) Experience working on live, operational or highly regulated sites is advantageous; Heathrow/airside experience a strong plus Relevant qualifications: Civil Engineering degree or equivalent site experience, SMSTS/SSSTS, CSCS card Strong H&S focus and ability to manage subcontractors and specialist drilling teams Good communication and organisational skills, comfortable working within strict airport security and operational constraints Willingness to undergo airside vetting and obtain an airside pass Details Location: Heathrow Airport Sector: Aviation / Civil Engineering – Ground Investigation, New Runway Programme Contract type: Permanent/Contract Rate/Salary: Competitive, DOE Start date: Immediately
