The Role
We are currently seeking a passionate and dedicated English Teacher for a long-term placement at a forward-thinking secondary school in Middlesbrough.
This role involves teaching English across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, preparing students for their GCSEs and fostering a genuine love for literature and language. As a long-term position, you will be expected to immerse yourself in the school community, taking on responsibilities for planning, marking, and departmental meetings.
Key Responsibilities:

Deliver engaging and high-quality English lessons to KS3 and KS4 students.

Plan and prepare curriculum-aligned lessons that cater to a range of learning abilities.
*
Assess, track, and report on student progress, ensuring pupils are well-prepared for GCSE examinations.
*
Maintain a positive learning environment through effective classroom management.
*
Collaborate with the English department to share best practices and resources.
Requirements:
*
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.
*
Proven experience teaching English at Secondary level (KS3 & KS4).
*
A strong understanding of the UK National Curriculum and GCSE assessment criteria.
*
A valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
*
A commitment to student safeguarding and welfare.
