Job Purpose
The Head of Art will lead and manage the Art Department, delivering high-quality teaching across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. The role involves inspiring creativity, fostering artistic skills, and ensuring excellent academic outcomes while promoting a passion for visual arts throughout the school.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Management
* Lead, develop, and manage the Art Department to ensure high standards of teaching and learning
* Design and implement a dynamic and engaging Art curriculum for KS3 and KS4
* Monitor and evaluate student progress, using data to inform departmental improvements
* Support and mentor Art staff, including performance management and professional development
* Manage departmental resources, budgets, and classroom environments effectively
Teaching & Learning
* Plan and deliver high-quality Art lessons that engage and challenge students of all abilities
* Teach a broad range of artistic techniques, media, and art history
* Prepare students for GCSE Art examinations, ensuring strong outcomes
* Use assessment strategies to track progress and provide constructive feedback
* Maintain a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment
